Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring work on the project meets plans and specifications. This on-site role requires relocation to project locations nationwide; the posted location may not reflect the assigned site.

You will review shop drawings, coordinate with owners and architects, prepare schedules, and support bid development and field operations. A bachelor's degree in construction management or related field and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or internship preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear expression of ideas.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Flexibility to modify plans as needed to meet goals.
• Cooperation and teamwork across project teams.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Willingness to learn new job-related information quickly.
• Understand OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Demonstrates integrity and ethical conduct.
• Strong problem solving and adaptable to varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for accuracy.
• Reviews plans for value and constructability; communicates with architect.
• Assists in bidding and scope development for trade contractors.
• Prepares and distributes meeting minutes; supports project meetings.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and tracks information flow.
• Updates project schedules and coordinates shop drawings milestones.
• Maintains logs for shop drawings and change requests.
• Reviews field procedures and installation for compliance.
• Advises on concrete pours and structural reinforcement procedures.
• Coordinates testing and verification of materials per specs.
• Supports safety programs and reports unsafe activities.
