Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care, including assisting with meals, mobilization, baths, and linen changes. The role emphasizes patient safety, compassionate bedside manner, and teamwork with the RN and charge nurse in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Duties include obtaining vitals, reporting changes, and ensuring safety measures are used to protect patients. Lends support across units per department policies and patient needs.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist bedside RN with patient care and comfort.
• Provide drinks, assist with meals, baths, and linen changes.
• Monitor patient safety using gait belts and bed/chair alarms and report changes to nursing staff.
