Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Full-Time Night Patient Care Technician to support bedside care by anticipating patient needs, such as assisting with meals, ordering, and mobility. The PCA role requires compassion, a caring bedside manner, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting.

They will assist the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining safety with gait belts and alarms.

Qualifications

• Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or be eligible to attain it during PCA education.
• Knowledge of patient care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and manage a high workload.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care to patients, including assisting with meals, baths, mobility, and linen changes.
• Obtain vital signs and report any abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Assist with safety measures such as gait belts and bed/chair alarms.
• Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment and respond promptly to patient needs.
