Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or through IU Health PCA program.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to patient age and development.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to PCA activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under stress and manage a high workload.
• Attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering and dining.
• Encourage walking and mobility to aid recovery.
• Assist with baths and personal care.
• Provide clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain and report vital signs; communicate changes to RN.
• Use safety devices (gait belts, bed/chair alarms) and stay within arm's reach for patient safety.
