Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside RNs and deliver compassionate care on a fast-paced unit in Bloomington, Indiana. You will assist with meals, hydration, walking, baths, and linen changes while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reporting changes, and following infection control practices. Candidates should have BLS certification or be in IU Health PCA program and strong interpersonal

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high workload.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, encourage walking, assist with baths, and provide clean linens and gowns to patients.
• Provide clinical assistance to the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities or changes.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms and staying within arm's reach when moving.
• Support patient comfort and deliver compassionate bedside care on a fast-paced unit.
