Job summary

The Bowery Residents Committee (BRC) is seeking a Community Technician to support residents in a 24/7 program in Brooklyn, NY. This frontline role focuses on safety, crisis de-escalation, and compassionate care.

You’ll work 37.5 hours weekly with mandatory overtime, receive hands-on training and access to certifications, and opportunities to pursue career growth within the agency’s trauma-informed framework.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
