Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Community Technician in Manhattan, NY. This full-time role supports individuals experiencing homelessness, providing frontline crisis response and compassionate, trauma-informed care on a 24/7 program. Training and certifications will be provided.

The position emphasizes calm judgment, strong boundaries, and teamwork with strong communication and basic computer skills. Overtime and diverse shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and basic computing skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
