Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. in Manhattan, NY seeks a Community Technician to support individuals experiencing homelessness. This full-time, 37.5-hour role includes shifts Thu–Mon with mandatory overtime and on-call coverage to maintain safety and care standards.

You’ll gain trauma‑informed care exposure, certifications via BRC, and clear paths to case management and leadership with structured training and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma‑informed and de‑escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
