Job summary

The Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support in a 24/7 shelter environment. This full-time role emphasizes trauma-informed interactions, safety monitoring, and compassionate engagement with residents.

You'll perform rounds, respond to crises, assist with meals and logistics, and participate in training and certifications offered by BRC. A high school diploma or GED is required, with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma‑informed and de‑escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
• Related duties as assigned
