Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. in Bronx, NY is seeking a Community Technician for a full-time, 37.5-hour week in a 24/7 program with mandatory overtime.

You will be a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, providing safety, crisis response, and basic care while maintaining dignity and security. The role emphasizes trauma-informed engagement and teamwork, with training and certifications offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Narcan training).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan - training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
