Job summary

Avanath Capital is seeking an Assistant Community Manager to support daily operations of our affordable housing communities in Oakland. You will assist with rent processing, leasing, reporting, and supervising staff in the Community Manager’s absence.

The role requires professionalism, strong customer service focus, and a solid background in property management, LIHTC programs, and Fair Housing compliance. Local market knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Community Manager.
• LIHTC/Tax Credit program knowledge required.
• Excellent communication skills and dedication to customer service.
• Solid track record of bookkeeping and rent collection.
• Thorough understanding of landlord/tenant law and Fair Housing Laws.
• Strong interpersonal skills and organizational ability.
• Proficient computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, email.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager Property Management software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all operational duties of the Community Manager.
• Handle reporting, rent processing, leasing, and marketing tasks.
• Oversee community staff in the Community Manager's absence.
• Maintain professional relations with residents and staff.
• Support leasing consultants and ensure Fair Housing compliance.
• Manage compliance files under direction of Compliance and Community Manager.
• Participate in monthly projections, vacancies inspection, and make-ready units.
