Job summary

The Salvation Army Indiana Division is hiring a Cook to provide daily meal preparation, planning, and service in a facility setting. You will ensure a safe, clean kitchen environment while supporting the mission to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Responsibilities include preparing meals on schedule, following ServSafe standards, verifying deliveries, and maintaining equipment and sanitation. Strong teamwork and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Background checks are required for this position
• Kitchen experience is preferred
• Serv Safe Food Handler certification required within 6 months
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain TSA driver qualification standards

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals at assigned times
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with ServSafe standards
• Taste all prepared items to ensure proper ingredients were used
• Assist with meal service
• Ensure sack lunches are prepared and ready for clients leaving the facility
• Prepare late plates for clients
• Ensure deliveries are checked in and stored
• Keep kitchen and equipment clean and sanitized
• Wear proper attire including apron, hair net, gloves, and uniform
