The Salvation Army is seeking a Cook for the Friendly Kitchen in Burlington to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals while upholding food safety standards and a welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Current Serve Safe certificate or willingness to acquire within 60 days accepted.
• Demonstrates a friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
• Represents and promotes The Salvation Army in a positive and respectful manner.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare weekly and monthly menus that meet nutritional guidelines.
• Prepare, cook, and serve balanced meals.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, dining area, and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces after each meal service.
• Store and rotate food and supplies, maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Follow all standard food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Monitor and report equipment issues or safety concerns to Corps Officers.
• Ensure certifications and permits are maintained per city and state regulations.
• Interact respectfully and professionally with clients, volunteers, and staff.
• Represent The Salvation Army's mission and values in all interactions.
