Job summary

The Salvation Army Indiana Division is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to prepare and serve meals for Center residents and to manage daily kitchen operations. You will supervise cooks, ensure nutrition and hygiene standards, and coordinate use of donated foods.

Successful candidates will have a High School Diploma, experience in residential kitchens, and a valid driver’s license. Safe from Harm training within 30 days is required. Weekend/evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma, Experience in Residential Kitchens.
• Background checks: a background check is required and results reviewed.
• Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; experience as a cook in a residential or commercial setting; ability to relate positively to persons in crisis.
• Certifications: valid driver’s license and Salvation Army driver’s qualification; Safe from Harm training within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff: morning and evening cooks.
• Prepares and serves nutritionally balanced meals per menus.
• Maximizes use of donated food in meal prep.
• Ensure intake staff have access to sack lunches and snacks.
• Maintain hygiene practices and cleaning schedules.
• Direct concerns to the Director; keep resident information confidential.
• Develop cleaning checklists and maintain daily/weekly/monthly cleaning.
• Coordinate volunteer events and provide training/background checks.
