Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, seeks a Service Technician – Commercial Generators to maintain and repair generator and power distribution equipment at customer sites. The role includes technical support, on-call coverage, and strong adherence to safety and documentation standards.

Ideal candidates bring extensive field experience with generators, switchgear, and loadbanking, plus the ability to read schematics and work with Woodward/PLC systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related military or field experience acceptable.
• Three to ten years field experience servicing generator systems depending on level; experience with 500kW+ is preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting and repair skills on generator systems and switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel and independent work structure on customer sites.
• Provide 24x7 on-call services as required.
• Maintain and safeguard company equipment and tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on contracted equipment.
• Interact with customers and provide technical support as needed.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and timely.
• Own and maintain personal set of tools.
• Cross-train in other areas as needed.
