Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking a Commercial Generator Field Technician to service generator systems and power distribution equipment at customer sites. You will handle preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and on-site support, working largely independently with an emphasis on safety and documentation.

The role requires hands-on experience with 500kW+ units, ATS systems, and advanced controls. Expect daily travel and possible long hours, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Three years of field experience servicing generator systems, incl. 500kW+ where possible.
• High School diploma or GED; related military or field experience accepted.
• Perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel priming, and component replacement.
• Understand Automatic Transfer Systems and troubleshoot with minimal guidance.
• Read electrical schematics and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical subsystems.
• Learn advanced generator/electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, PLCs.
• Read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals and procedures.
• Work with basic math concepts and data to define problems and facts.
• Observe safety standards at all times.
• Maintain professional appearance and effective written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel with an independent work structure to customer sites.
• Provide 24x7 on-call services as required, barring PTO or off-call.
• Maintain and safeguard company equipment, tools, and instruments.
• Perform battery installations and replacements and preventive maintenance.
• Interface with customers and provide technical support as needed.
