Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Service Technician to maintain and repair commercial generator and power distribution equipment on client sites. You will provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects and travel regularly for on-site service.

The role requires 3+ years of field experience with generators, ATS knowledge, and proficiency with electrical schematics. On-call duties and safety compliance are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Three years of field experience servicing generator systems, with some 500kW+ work.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent; related military or field experience accepted.
• Ability to perform engine diagnostics, maintenance, and ATS troubleshooting.
• Able to read electrical schematics and use electronic and mechanical knowledge.
• Experience with or ability to learn Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC controls.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel with independent work structure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call service as required unless on PTO or off-call.
• Maintain and safeguard company equipment, tools, and instruments.
• Battery installations and replacements.
• Perform preventive maintenance on contracted equipment.
• Coordinate and manage on-site subcontractors as needed.
• Complete paperwork timely, including Field Service Reports and time sheets.
• Provide technical support to customers on request.
