Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Service Technician – Commercial Generators to maintain and repair contractor equipment and support customers on operational matters. The role emphasizes on-site mobility, safety, and collaborative problem-solving across teams.

With the opportunity for level-based advancement, the ideal candidate has a proven track record in generator systems, ATS, loadbanking, and engine diagnostics, while demonstrating strong communication

Qualifications

• Three years of field experience servicing generator systems (Level II).
• Six years in field servicing generator systems; 500KW+ experience; ATS, switchgear, loadbanking.
• Ten years in field servicing generator systems; preventative maintenance; advanced controls.
• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Expert in major engine repairs; experience with Volvo and PSI engines.
• Able to read schematics and wiring diagrams; Woodward/Beckwith/PLC equipment.
• Must observe safety standards.
• Mentor mid to high level techs.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel with independent work structure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call services as required.
• Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments.
• Battery installations and replacements.
• Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled.
• Customer contact and interface.
• Communicate availability status to corporate office.
• Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records.
• Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary.
• Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary.
• Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition.
• Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards.
• Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately.
• Provide technical support to customers upon request.
• Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review.
• Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary.
• Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools.
• Cross train in other areas as needed.
