Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its finance group, focused on CMBS transactions. This position is open to all U.S. offices and involves legal research, writing, and cross-office collaboration with senior lawyers on complex deals.

The ideal candidate has a JD with admission to practice in the relevant state and 2+ years of law-firm experience, preferably in commercial real estate finance or structured finance. Hybrid work arrangements are supported.

Qualifications

• JD and licensed to practice law in the state where the office is located.
• At least 2 years of law-firm experience; CMBS/structured finance or securities familiarity preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft well-written, error-free legal documents including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with professionalism and timely communication.
• Collaborate with other lawyers and professionals to develop innovative strategies for transactions and cases.
