Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its finance group, structured finance subgroup, focusing on CMBS transactions across our U.S. offices.

The role involves legal research, drafting, client interaction, and collaboration with other lawyers to support complex transactions from inception to closing. Candidates should have a JD and at least 2 years of law-firm experience; CMBS or structured finance exposure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• JD and degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 2 years of experience in a law firm; CMBS/structured finance experience preferred but not required.
• Direct AmLaw 100 law firm experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will vary by level and practice group; conduct legal research to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft legal documents including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including closings and negotiations.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships with timely updates and professional conduct.
• Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to develop strategies for favorable outcomes.
• Attend, support, and participate in high-level legal activities including hearings and negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay abreast of changes in law and precedents.
• Proactively seek training to enhance legal knowledge, practice technology, management, and leadership.
• Engage in firm citizenship, pro bono work, and community initiatives.
