Job summary

VisionWorks in Massachusetts is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process.

You will work as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, assist with both in-person and remote eye exams, manage EMR documentation, and help coordinate appointments and contact lens orders while maintaining a clean, efficient clinic.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and submit information to EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and document results in EMR.
• For remote appointments, assist with pre-testing, remote testing and video conferencing.
• Transition patient to a retail associate after exam and convey recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits to patients and preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books, including no-shows and cancellations.
