Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. seeks a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to improve patient experiences by preparing patients for onsite or remote examinations and performing pre-exam tests.

You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and participate in the early steps of the patient journey. The role involves helping with remote eye exams, coordinating with staff, handling insurance authorizations, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations and document results in EMR
• Explain preliminary testing process to patients and document results accurately
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, specialty testing and video conferencing
• Coordinate with retail associates to schedule appointments and manage exam books
• Preauthorize insurance and explain MVC plan benefits to patients
• Maintain patient records and ensure a clean clinical environment
• Instruct patients on contact lenses handling and order stock
• Travel to other locations to meet business needs
