Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support both onsite and remote eye examinations. You will prepare patients, run pre-exam tests, document results in EMR, and guide patients through the consultation process.

The role requires strong customer service, empathy, and the ability to explain testing steps. Flexible schedules and travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Patient advocate with excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to initiate interaction and coordinate with patients and team.
• Detail oriented and well organized; read and interpret insurance forms.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect information for EMR and medical history.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams: pre-testing, remote conferencing, and additional testing.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and assist with insurance preauthorization.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; handle no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions by phone or in person.
