Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations and performing pre-exam diagnostic tests. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and support the patient journey from intake through exam completion.

The role includes assisting with remote eye exams, documenting results in EMR, and coordinating with retail associates for follow-up and scheduling.

Qualifications

One year of related experience is required or preferred.
HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
Optical or healthcare background is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations and perform pre-exam tests.
Explain preliminary testing steps to patients and document results in EMR.
Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; explain testing processes to patients.
For remote appointments, assist with remote eye exams including pre-testing, documentation, and conferencing.
Transition patients to retail associates with doctor recommendations; explain plan benefits to patients.
Preauthorize insurance according to SOPs and schedule exams; manage appointment books.
Maintain patient records and assist with inventory and supplies; ensure HIPAA compliance.
Travel to other locations as needed to meet business demands.
