Job summary

VisionWorks in Beverly, MA is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience. You will prepare patients for onsite or remote examinations, perform pre-exam tests, and document results in EMR while coordinating with Optometrists.

The role supports both in-person and remote eye care, requires strong patient service, and offers a part-time schedule with flexible travel between stores. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and explain preliminary tests.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, remote conferencing and documenting results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Understand MVC plans and articulate plan benefits to patients.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows/cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness.
• Answer clinical questions and triage emergencies.
• Maintain complete patient records per standards.
• Instruct on contact lens care and handle orders.
• Know contact lens brands and pull trials as needed.
• Maintain clean environment and equipment; ensure nightly coverage.
• Participate in training and obtain required clinical certifications.
• Work flexible schedules, including travel to other locations.
