Qualifications

• GS-4: Six (6) months general experience.
• AND Six (6) months specialized experience in technical medical laboratory support.
• OR Associate degree program with year-two certified laboratory assistant training.
• OR One year of chemistry/biology study plus a full-time lab training program.
• OR Two years of chemistry/biology study directly related to the position.
• GS-05: One year specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 (CLIA-waived testing, specimen collection, lab reporting).
• OR Bachelor's degree with related major or 24+ semester hours in related subjects.
• OR A combination of education and experience.
• GS-06: One year specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 (clinical lab tests, QA, biosafety).
• GS-07: One year specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 (variety of clinical tests, reporting, QA).

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, immunology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results, identify normal/abnormal findings, troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain laboratory instruments, prepare reagents and culture media.
• Collect and process patient specimens; verify identity and document in LIS.
• Validate and document results; communicate with providers; support QA and accreditation.
