Job summary

Qualifications

  • GS-04 requires six months general and six months specialized lab experience.
  • Associate degree with one year of certified laboratory assistant training meets GS-04.
  • GS-05 requires one year of specialized experience or related education.
  • GS-06 requires one year of specialized experience in standardized tests and QA.
  • GS-07 requires one year of specialized experience at GS-06 level or equivalent graduate education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
  • Evaluate test results, recognize abnormalities, and troubleshoot for accuracy.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments; prepare reagents and media; monitor quality control.
  • Collect and process patient specimens; accession and track samples in lab systems.
  • Validate and document results; communicate with healthcare providers; support accreditation activities.
