Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform clinical laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and more. You will collect specimens, ensure result accuracy, and maintain instruments and quality controls under CAP/CLIA guidelines.

The role requires compliant specimen handling, data entry into laboratory information systems, and communication of results to healthcare providers, with emphasis on safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Six months general experience or more.
• Six months specialized experience in clinical lab support tasks.
• Completion of an associate degree program with second-year certified lab assistant training.
• One year of study with chemistry or biological sciences plus a year of clinical lab training.
• Two years of study with chemistry/biological sciences related to the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; prepare reagents and media; monitor quality control.
• Collect and process patient specimens; track and accession specimens in LIS.
• Validate and document results, communicate with providers, and support quality assurance and safety compliance.
