Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of clinical tests and support specimen collection in American Indian communities. You will help ensure accurate results and participate in quality assurance and accreditation activities.

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or equivalent for GS-04; one year for GS-05; education or combination thereof as outlined in the announcement.
• Experience performing clinical laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, immunology, or blood banking.
• Ability to collect, label, and process specimens; maintain biosafety and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate results, troubleshoot, and repeat procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain instruments, prepare reagents and culture media; monitor QC activities.
