Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Patient Service Associate to coordinate clinic preparation, identify patients, check in/out, post charges, manage cash, and schedule appointments. The role also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and referrals management.

The position requires coordination of multiple tasks, strong communication skills, basic data entry, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year patient or public-facing experience.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Basic PC and data entry skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.
Ability to apply department policies on verifying patient information and payments.

Responsibilities

Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients and completing prep activities. Review insurance, copay amounts, prepayments, and HIPAA/COA documents for encounters.
Check-in patient upon arrival, verify demographic data, edit Maestro Care as needed, post co-payments and balances, and manage alerts.
Check-out patients and schedule appointments, tests and procedures, and arrange follow-up testing.
Answer telephone calls, deliver messages to physicians and staff, and disseminate information per communication standards.
