Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking a Clinic Operations Representative to provide patient services and administrative support in clinic operations.

You will collect demographic information, verify insurance, schedule appointments, assist with billing, and coordinate with parents, physicians and staff under supervision.

This role may float to other clinics or ROCs and serves as a stepping stone toward a Senior Clinic Operations Rep or Team Lead.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience performing billing, patient registration, and scheduling, medical insurance verification, insurance screening.
• Broad clinic knowledge and customer service skills; Microsoft Office experience (Word & Excel) preferred; typing 35 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accuracy of scheduling patients using the applicable scheduling system.
• Complete computer aided, on-line registration with parent/guardian in professional & courteous manner.
• Collect accurate demographic and insurance information; update systems per department standards.
• Reschedule appointments for no-shows or cancellations; schedule follow-ups at checkout when applicable.
• Greet patients/parents; enter patient in system per policy.
• Obtain insurance cards and photo ID; ensure copies reach CNMC HIM and department; document appropriately.
• Respond to patient portal work lists (appointments, faxes, emails).
• Verify insurance eligibility and pre-authorization/referral information.
• Discuss co-payments and balances with parents; refer to Financial Information Center as needed.
• Utilize multiple systems to verify and sync patient data.
• Verify insurance eligibility; ensure referrals/pre-authorizations are obtained 5 days in advance.
• Collect and record co-payments; maintain cash controls and collections.
