Job summary

Lumen's Network as a Service (NaaS) platform requires a Lead SRE to own reliability across diverse network topologies, partnering with operations and development teams to drive technical direction and automation.

You will oversee observability, incident management, and automation, applying AI-assisted workflows to accelerate deployments, improve platform health, and mentor junior engineers while documenting architecture and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years in software development, systems engineering, and or networking.
• 5+ years of related SRE experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong automation and infrastructure-as-code skills (Terraform, Ansible, Python).
• Experience running containerized workloads on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Experience with incident management and blameless postmortems.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development and agentic tools.
• Understanding of network technologies (Internet, Ethernet, IPVPN, Edge Compute, Optical).
• Strong listening and communication; autonomous with escalation when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability and observability of the NaaS platform.
• Be SME for network automation platform applications and hosting environments.
• Build and maintain observability stack with dashboards and metrics.
• Define and tune proactive alerting.
• Champion SRE principles — SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response.
• Drive blameless postmortems and root cause analysis.
• Improve processes and tooling to prevent recurrence.
• Automate deployment pipelines and IaC provisioning.
• Develop tools to reduce toil for ops and dev teams.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to development and investigation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor juniors.
• Maintain documentation of processes and architecture.
