Job summary

Nuvision Federal Credit Union in Florida is seeking a Collections – Loss Mitigation specialist to manage charged-off loan recovery. The role focuses on direct outreach, settlement negotiations, and accurate documentation to improve recovery dollars and bottom-line performance.

The position requires at least 3 years of hands-on collection experience, knowledge of bankruptcy laws, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Three years of hands-on collection experience including secured and unsecured loans.
• Experience with repossession, advanced skip tracing, recovery of charged-off loans, and managing collection agencies.
• Strong background in bankruptcy laws, foreclosures, repossessions, and the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with focus on negotiating.
• Ability to communicate effectively with members, management, team members and external third parties.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Contact charged-off loan and negative share members to arrange repayment and document activity.
• Negotiate settlements to maximize recovery for the credit union.
• Meet or exceed monthly collection targets for charged-off loans and negative shares.
• Assist with processing small claims, repossessions, legal actions, wage assignments and bankruptcy for charged-off accounts.
• Ensure recovery payments are allocated correctly to loans or General Ledger accounts.
• Support continuous improvement activities and represent the credit union professionally.
• Maintain confidentiality of member information and treat co-workers and members with respect.
• Collaborate with team and external third parties.
