Job summary

Nuvision Credit Union in Texas is seeking a charged-off loans Collections Specialist under the supervision of the AVP Collections – Loss Mitigation.

You will manage liquidation, recoveries and maintenance of charged-off loans, accurately recording all collection activity in the system.

The role requires strong negotiation, communication, and teamwork, with attention to detail and confidentiality in member interactions.

Qualifications

• Three years of hands-on collection experience with retail secured and unsecured loans.
• Strong knowledge of bankruptcy laws, foreclosures, repossessions and the FDCPA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to negotiate settlements and work with members and third parties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Contact charged-off loan and negative share members to arrange repayment and record activity.
• Negotiate settlements to maximize return to the credit union.
• Achieve monthly recovery targets for charged-off loans and negative shares.
• Assist management with processing small claims, repossessions, legal wage assignments, and bankruptcy for charged-off accounts.
• Ensure recovery payments are allocated to loans or General Ledger.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent the Credit Union professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Work with coworkers and members respectfully.
• Other related duties as assigned.
