Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer in California to join the Lunar Core Components Heat Transfer team. You will contribute to breakthroughs in thermal hardware for lunar landers, guiding designs through build, test, and verification cycles.

Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to deliver reliable, safe spaceflight hardware. Required are a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 3+ years of thermal engineering experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
  • Strong grasp of heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with heat exchangers, cold plates, radiators, and other common spacecraft hardware.
  • Experience designing, sizing, building, and/or testing hardware.
  • Basic experience with CAD software; preferably Creo.
  • Experience with CFD simulation methods for component-level analysis.
  • Experience with thermal analysis software tools such as Thermal Desktop, FloCAD, MATLAB, Python scripting, CFD++, Ansys Fluent.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams to deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a team of Thermal Engineers developing thermal hardware for lunar landers and drive designs through build, test, and verification.
  • Apply technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality to impact safe human spaceflight.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver results on time and within constraints.
