Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room, working night shifts on a 40-hour schedule. The role involves scrubbing for physicians, preparing sterile setups, and assisting with patient positioning under RN direction.

Qualified candidates have accredited surgical technology training, national certification, and a current BLS. Union UFCW affiliation applies; signing bonus may be available during recruitment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology with certification as of hire date.
• Surgical technologist credential from a nationally recognized certifying body.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years and AST membership.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical teams during operative procedures in scrubbing for all physicians in assigned service area.
• Arranges and inventories sterile setup for operations and assists in preparing moving and positioning patients.
• Performs sterile scrub procedures and related activities such as preparation and draping the patient and operative area.
• Passes instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies in accordance with policy and procedures; participates in turnover of operating rooms.
