Job summary

UNC Health in Clayton, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under supervision of a provider and under a manager for non-clinical duties.

Your duties include rooming patients, collecting vital signs, medication review, assisting with procedures, drawing blood, performing EKGs and other screenings, and coordinating scheduling and registrations. Previous MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Prior medical assistant or externship experience is preferred.
• Certification in Medical Assisting preferred by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake with vital signs and patient data.
• Collect med history and allergies, review medication list.
• Assist provider during exams and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and administer medications per provider.
• Conduct tests such as EKG and eye exams under supervision.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms and manage supplies.
• Coordinate scheduling, check-in/out, and referrals.
• Document in electronic medical records and communicate with patients.
