Job summary

UNC Health in Knightdale seeks a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under clinical supervision for patient care and under management for non-clinical tasks.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting history and vitals, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, and coordinating scheduling. Prior MA experience and certification are preferred; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA) preferred but not required.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required.
• Prior MA or externship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and record vital signs, measurements, and visit data.
• Collect patient history, medications, and allergies.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under provider supervision.
• Conduct basic tests (EKG, eye exams) as directed.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Support patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
• Assist with telephone calls and clinic in-basket as directed.
