Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. The role operates under clinical supervision of a provider and the manager, with duties including patient rooming, data collection, specimen handling, procedure assistance, and post-visit guidance.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of full-time MA experience, MA certification, BLS, and preferably a CAHEP/ABHES-accredited MA

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT).
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vitals, and collect data including reason for visit.
• Review medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assist provider during treatments and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Conduct tests (EKG, eye exams) as directed.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready for procedures.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Assist with registration, check-in/out, scheduling, and referrals.
