Job summary

The USO, a global organization, is seeking a Center Operations Specialist to manage day-to-day operations at one or more USO Centers, delivering excellent customer service and creating a safe, welcoming space for service members and their families.

You will plan and oversee programs, events and activities, coordinate volunteers and resources, monitor inventory and budgeting, and help maintain smooth operations while upholding USO guidelines and a strong community presence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years work experience in event management, marketing, retail, customer service, recreation facility or related role.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with volunteer management software and social media.

Responsibilities

• Execute day-to-day Center operational procedures, ensuring a cost-effective, safe, welcoming and clean environment.
• Engage and interact with Center visitors; troubleshoot issues and guide vendors as needed.
• Monitor budget, inventory, cash handling; provide data for financial and operational reports.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for local operations and Center activities.
• Plan and oversee programs, events and activities; coordinate logistics and social media communications.
• Assist with communications and awareness; prepare announcements and photos for media and website.
• Support planning and evaluation of new and existing USO programs and events on and off installations.
• Develop partnerships with the military, community leaders, donors and media for program delivery.
