Job summary

USO in Honolulu, HI is seeking a Center Operations Specialist to run day-to-day center operations, delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for service members and families.

You will oversee programs, events and volunteer activities, coordinate resources, manage inventory and reporting, and collaborate with leadership to enhance mission delivery across installations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 2 years work experience in event management, marketing, retail, customer service, recreation, facility, or related role.
• Relevant experience in a nonprofit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills.
• Ability to interact with USO Leadership, public, and military audiences with integrity and professionalism.
• Proficiency using computers and electronics; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with volunteer management software and social media platforms.
• Experience with Digital Cheetah preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
• Initiative, self-motivation and attention to detail; manage multiple projects.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Execute day-to-day Center operations procedures to ensure a cost-effective, safe, welcoming and clean environment.
• Monitor facilities and equipment; enforce sanitary guidelines and regulations.
• Engage Center visitors and act as a subject matter expert on amenities, tours, classes, programs and services; troubleshoot issues.
• Plan and oversee operational areas such as programs, logistics, inventory, budget and communications; coordinate resources.
• Oversee volunteers; manage the volunteer database and report hours and applications.
• Create announcements, stories and photos for social media and local media; ensure adherence to USO guidelines.
• Assist with operations communications and awareness; support new and existing programs and events.
