Job summary

Life Skills Autism Academy is seeking a dedicated behavior technician to support children on the autism spectrum through one-to-one ABA therapy under BCBA supervision. The role emphasizes data collection, skill acquisition, and family involvement to promote language, social, and school readiness.

Candidates must hold or be willing to obtain RBT certification, complete a 40-hour training, and pass the competency exam within 45 days.

Qualifications

• Must maintain RBT certification or complete 40-hour training and pass the competency exam within 45 days.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have reliable transportation and, in some cases, proof of driver’s license and valid car insurance.
• Need to be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to physically perform this job, including lifting up to 50 lbs and getting down on the floor.
• Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification if not current.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training.
• Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client’s individualized treatment plan built by BCBA/BCaBA.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
• Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
• Ensure documentation is completed on time and following established procedures.
• Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by BCBA/BC.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
• Assist BCBA/BC in preparation of client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.
