FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring a Tractor-Trailer Operator who will operate tractor-trainer equipment, perform safety inspections, and manage freight handling on a dock and yard environment.

The role includes loading, unloading, securing cargo, and coordinating with Dispatch to meet scheduling needs. Candidates must have a Class A CDL or CLP, meet DOT/MVR requirements, and demonstrate basic math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL or a commercial learner permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must meet Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) requirements per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly and handle freight efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers regarding pickups and delays.
• Provide internal/external customer service and identify new sales leads.
