Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A driver to operate tractor-trailers and perform dock duties as needed. Responsibilities include non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and handling freight between service centers.

Positions require CDL, clean MVR, and DOT compliance. You will drive long distances, work varying schedules, and maintain logs and documentation while delivering customer service.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learner permit.
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers requiring ~100 pounds lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and work in a truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck.
• Chain vehicle tires when required.
• Follow laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
