Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer units between service centers and turn-points. The role may include non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work.

You will perform inspections, log maintenance, and follow dispatch instructions, ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations. Candidates must hold a Class A CDL (or CLP), meet MVR/DOT requirements, and demonstrate solid math, communication, and independent work skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP) before entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring approx. 100 lb lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in tight spaces.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, issues, or events.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and company procedures.
• Perform duties of a city driver or freight handler when needed.
• Operate freight handling equipment such as forklift and pallet jack when required.
