Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver/operator to proficiently operate tractor-trailer combinations and perform related non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.41+.
• Ability to perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractors or trailers.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight with pallets, straps, and rope inside trailers.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed and complete required paperwork.
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service and gather leads for sales.
