Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Class A CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with additional dock duties as needed. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely freight movement.

You will perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, handle freight with forklifts and hand trucks, and communicate with Dispatch to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any delays while upholding DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• MVR acceptable per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under FMC/§391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Perform freight handling with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment issues.
