Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring for a driver role in Anderson, IN. The position involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, and handling freight on docks.

You may perform city driving or freight-handling tasks as needed and must follow Dispatch instructions for delays, arrivals, and equipment issues. Qualified candidates hold a Class A CDL or CLP, have a valid MVR, and can meet DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding events (delays, arrivals, equipment problems).
• Comply with hazmat regulations and company procedures, and confirm placarding matches hazmat shipments.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where necessary, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Use forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck for freight handling.
