Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring in Indiana for CDL A drivers. The role involves picking up and delivering freight between service centers and customers, plus supporting the selling process.

You will operate tractors and trailers, perform safety inspections, handle freight with forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include securing cargo, aiding in new business development, and assisting in other duties as needed to support operations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• One year experience within the most recent three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• LCV qualifications apply in listed states; meeting standards is required.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills for documentation and coordination.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move as needed.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight in trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• May drive road or work as dock employee if required for operations.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
