Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a professional Driver to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, supporting the sales process. You will operate various tractor-trailer configurations, perform safety inspections, and ensure proper documentation and compliance with DOT regulations.

The role requires a Class A CDL with endorsements, a valid MVR, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. You may be asked to drive in diverse conditions and to assist with sales leads and customer

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with doubles/triples, HazMat and Tank endorsements required.
• At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Valid MVR according to hiring standards.
• DOT 391 FMC regulatory requirements met.
• Long combination vehicle qualifications for specified states.
• Basic math ability for counting and calculations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of a truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dolly handles.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges as required.
• Follow dispatch instructions and report delays or equipment problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs.
• Solicit additional business and provide sales leads.
• May chain vehicle tires.
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Follow laws and company policies; perform other duties.
